PINK Slip!!

In the time of global meltdown, all we hear or read is "Pink Slip". So while discussing the impact of this global meltdown on India with one of my friends, i started thinking about the association color PINK with this PINK SLIP. Handing a Pink Slip means nothing but Firing or Terminating a person from his job. So if that was the case then it should have been RED cuz thats the color we associate with FIRE, aint it? Or since its a black day for an employee it should have been called BLACK SLIP as well but PINK????Out of all the colors??????? PINK????????

I still wonder why!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

PINK SLIP: [Pink slip refers to the American practice, by a personnel department, of including a discharge notice (printed on pink paper) in an employee's pay envelope to notify the worker of his or her termination of employment or layoff.[1] According to an article in The New York Times, the editors of the Random House Dictionary dated the term to at least 1910.[1] Originally the color of the paper had no particular significance. In the UK and Ireland the equivalent of a pink slip is a P45, in Belgium the equivalent is known as a C4.]
